Not too keen on digging? Mound-style burrows can be positioned above the ground and covered with soil. Golf courses often have piles of plugs left over from aerating the greens that are perfect for this. Watch out for ground squirrels at play. They love digging in the soft soil and can quickly uncover a burrow. Mound burrows are just the ticket in areas where the combination of rain and heavy soils can turn your lovingly dug burrow in a hole into a bathtub.
